    Why time your standup

The daily standup is meant to take 15 minutes. It usually runs over because one or two updates turn into problem solving.

A visible countdown makes the limit everyone's job, not just the facilitator's. When time is up, take the discussion offline with the people who need it.

    Why shuffle the order

A fixed order means the same people always speak first and the same people speak when attention has drifted. A random order keeps everyone listening, because nobody knows when they are up.

    Questions

How long should each person speak in a standup?
For a team of 8, about 90 seconds each keeps the meeting inside 15 minutes. Smaller teams can allow 2 minutes.
Does the timer remember my team?
Yes. The names and time per person are saved in your browser for tomorrow.
What happens when someone runs over?
The countdown turns red and keeps counting so you can see how far over they are. Click Next to move on.
